首孝悌，次谨信。
First, be filial and respectful; then, be careful and trustworthy.
泛爱众，而亲仁。
Love all broadly; draw close to the benevolent.
有余力，则学文。
With strength remaining, study the classics.
入则孝 · Filial Piety at Home
父母呼，应勿缓；父母命，行勿懒。
When parents call, answer quickly; when they ask, act diligently.
父母教，须敬听；父母责，须顺承。
When they teach, listen with respect; when they correct, accept humbly.
冬则温，夏则凊；晨则省，昏则定。
Keep them warm in winter, cool in summer; greet them morning and night.
出必告，反必面；居有常，业无变。
Inform them when leaving; greet them on return; keep regular habits and steady work.
事虽小，勿擅为；苟擅为，子道亏。
Do not act on your own against guidance; it harms your duty as a child.
物虽小，勿私藏；苟私藏，亲心伤。
Do not hoard even small things in secret; it hurts your parents’ hearts.
出则弟 · Fraternal Duty
兄道友，弟道恭；兄弟睦，孝在中。
Elder brothers should be kind, younger ones respectful; harmony itself is filial piety.
财物轻，怨何生；言语忍，忿自泯。
Hold possessions lightly and quarrels fade; be patient and anger dissolves.
谨 · Cautious Conduct
朝起早，夜眠迟；老易至，惜此时。
Rise early, rest with purpose; time is precious, youth is brief.
晨必盥，兼漱口；便溺回，辄净手。
Wash in the morning and rinse the mouth; after the toilet, always wash hands.
冠必正，纽必结；袜与履，俱紧切。
Dress neatly with buttons and laces secure.
置冠服，有定位；勿乱顿，致污秽。
Place garments in order; do not throw them about.
信 · Trustworthiness
凡出言，信为先；诈与妄，奚可焉。
Let honesty lead your words; never deceive or speak falsely.
见未真，勿轻言；知未的，勿轻传。
If you are unsure, do not speak; if unverified, do not spread.
泛爱众 · Universal Love
凡是人，皆须爱；天同覆，地同载。
All people deserve love; Heaven shelters and Earth carries us all.
行高者，名自高；人所重，非貌高。
Virtue brings true honor; worth is not in appearance.
亲仁 · Draw Near to the Virtuous
亲仁者，先仁德；择朋友，不可苟。
To approach the benevolent, first seek benevolence; choose friends with care.
近仁者，如入兰室；久而不闻其香。
With the virtuous, you dwell among orchids and are uplifted over time.
余力学文 · Study After All Else
读书法，有三到；心眼口，信皆要。
The method of study: heart, eyes, and voice—aligned with sincerity.
方读此，勿慕彼；此未终，彼勿起。
Focus on one text; finish before starting another.
宽为限，紧用功；工夫到，滞塞通。
Set gentle limits but work hard; effort makes the blocked become clear.
心有疑，随札记；就人问，求确义。
Note doubts as they arise; ask others for accurate meaning.
